The desire to do something for children with special needs led our Founders Mrs Santosh Mahenderjit Singh and Mrs Bimla Wig, to establish, The Spastics Centre, Kanpur now known as Ashayen, which is a haven for diversely abled children has been serving children and young adults with disabilities since 1990. .

Abhyansh is very active and full of energy. This energy was channelized into sports. He loved cycling. He went for a cycling event in Bhopal and got selected to attend the National Camp at Chennai. He then was selected for the summer Special Olympics to be held at Los Angeles in 2015. He returned with two bronze medals to a hero’s welcome.
She is a young woman who continued her education with Ashayen until she was 25 years old. She came to the Centre at the age of 7 years in the sitting position, unable to walk, stand, speak, sit. She was totally dependent on her mother for using the toilet and wearing clothes, but now she can do both herself. Her parents are educated, with a father working in the Ordinance Factory her parents brought her to us at a young age. She used to be crying all the time due to discomfort and was unable to speak
He came to the centre as a little child, born prematurely and with Cerebral Palsy. His parents worked hard with him. He improved on his physical potential so that he could sit in a classroom. He had a great love of studying and with co-operation from his parents moved from strength to strength. After finishing his class X and XII through National Institute of Open Schooling he did his post-graduation from Indira Gandhi National Open University.
